CUE 2017 National Conference

Hello Chrome Warriors! We're excited to announce that we'll be partnering with CUE at the CUE 2017 National Conference to bring another gamified learning experience to participants. The conference will take place from March 15-18 in Palm Springs, California. Whether you're attending or not, you can get in on the Chrome Warrior fun. Players will earn points while expanding their PLN, attending sessions, exploring the conference and participating in fun events, like CUE Karaoke. Earn mission points and get your sticker at CUE! We'll be sharing more details about the game next week. Check out last year's Fall CUE game. "Educators, technology coordinators, TOSAs, administrators and those who are looking to see how technology can support student achievement" can look forward to four days of learning and exploration! Check out some of the activities and sessions below. Don't forget to join us for a cup of coffee!

Exhibit Hall The exhibit area features nearly 200 vendor displays of current hardware, software, and other materials related to educational technology. Show hours have been scheduled to allow maximum time for attendees to interact with exhibitors. The Exhibit Hall is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Exhibits are open to all attendees and do not require an additional fee. Exhibit Hall Only passes available. Children under 16 are not allowed in the hall.

Concurrent Sessions Concurrent sessions are one-hour, presentations that address all areas of the curriculum and appeal to a variety of teachers. Sessions may be given by a single speaker, team or panel who can address the needs of the novice user of educational technology as well as the more experienced professional.

CUE Tips These quick, 20-minute presentations focus on emerging and existing innovations to enhance learning, productivity, or understanding. They should be noncommercial, brief, and focus on one or two tips, techniques, or resources.

Workshops New: with your conference registration, you may attend one of our Workshops that are held Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday! Workshops hold about 30-50 registrants. Workshops are 90-minutes, three hours, or all day of hands-on training to complement your concurrent sessions. Sign up early as space is limited!

CUE Rock Star Jam Sessions Jam Sessions will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday! Jam Session hold about 25 registrants. All Jam Sessions are purposely designed, focused, small group events that have two items in common:

  • Hands-On Learning - All sessions consist of 90 minute sessions allowing attendees to "dig in deep" and really get to know their topic and build resources to use next year.
  • Small Presenter to Attendee Ratios - CUE Rock Star Jam Sessions are built so that there is one presenter for every 20 attendees. This allows participants to get hands-on support and learn directly from knowledgeable educators.

Information Literacy Summit Information literacy - the ability to assess the need for information, access information sources effectively and efficiently, evaluate information for accuracy and quality, and use it appropriately - is a cross-disciplinary skill crucial for college and career readiness and a foundation for lifelong learning. This summit, led by teacher librarians from the California School Library Association (CSLA), will hone your information literacy skills with which you can empower your students. Don’t forget to tweet with #cue17 #cueils.

Diverse Learners Symposium Sessions devoted to the needs of our diverse learners on Thursday, Friday and Saturday! The Diverse Learners Symposium will expand the outreach of CUE to the Assistive Technology Community and to those seeking to increase their knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and implementation of Assistive Technology supports that expand the world of language and access to learning for students with disabilities. The symposium is part of your full conference registration.

CUE STEAMpunk Playground The CUE STEAMpunk playground allows conference attendees to engage in hands-on sessions featuring tools such as Apple Swift Playgrounds, robots and drones, coding and programming and so much more.  Attendees will access to “quick start” lesson plans that work for all grade levels from Kindergarten through college. Join us and learn alongside Apple Distinguished Educators and CUE STEAMpunks educators. Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday during the National Conference.

Other highlights include the Student-Powered Showcase, CUE Karaoke, CUE Media Festival, Photo Gallery of CaliforniaStreaming Photo Contest Winners, UnConference, and CUE Live!, CUE's internet TV show.

See you there!
