Want to become a Microsoft Innovative Educator?

Last month, we posted a sneak peek of our Alludo-authored Microsoft Innovative Educator game. The game includes activities centered around Office 365 applications, as well as additional Microsoft products that are popular in the classroom, preparing teachers to become MIEs. Levels 1-3 are now available in the catalog, with the Level 4 coming soon. Check out some of the featured products and activities below or visit our new MIE Demo Game and explore, real-time!

Microsoft Sway

"Sway is a new app from Microsoft Office that makes it easy to create and share interactive reports, personal stories, presentations, and more. Start by adding your own text and pictures, search for and import relevant content from other sources, and then watch Sway do the rest. With Sway, you’re no longer limited to picking a pre-designed template that makes your presentations look like everyone else’s, and you don’t have to have any design skills to transform and showcase information in modern, interactive, and attention-getting ways."

Activities: Learn more about Sway; create a personal Sway; create a Sway assignment

Minecraft Education Edition

"Spatial thinking and pixel art in Minecraft create an excellent opportunity for students to work on mathematics and visual arts objectives in an engaging environment. Additionally, pixel art is a medium that’s already engaging to students and one that allows educators to take their first steps with the game without being the expert."

Activities: Learn more about Minecraft Education Edition; download Minecraft; set-up Minecraft Classroom Mode

OneNote Class Notebook

"Gather web content and embed existing lessons in your class notebook to create custom lesson plans. Include audio and video recordings to create rich interactive lessons for students. Students can use powerful drawing tools to highlight, annotate slides, sketch diagrams, and take handwritten notes. Your class notebook makes it easier to collect homework, quizzes, exams and handouts. Students go to the content library to get their assignments -- no more printed handouts for the class."

Activities: Create a Class Notebook; connect to Teams; add video & record a message; create & grade an assignment

Skype in the Classroom

"Skype in the Classroom is completely free to educators and experts around the world to connect and sharing learning experiences using the standard free version of Skype. We are a part of the Microsoft Educator Community- a place for educators to learn, connect and share. We have hundreds of Guest Speakers, and learning activities which bring the curriculum to life, as your students interact live with experts and virtually visit many exciting places in the world."

Activities: Learn more about Skype in the Classroom; create an account; schedule a meeting; host virtual office hours
