Fun at ISTE 2018, SETDA, and Badge Summit

Another year, another great ISTE conference! We're just getting back after a few days of learning and playing -- here's a look back at the great things we experienced and the inspiring people we met along the way.

SETDA 2018

We started our trip at the SETDA Emerging Technology Forum, where we hosted the Lead On! MVP game. Over 90 representatives from across the US played, completing over 500 Lead, Learn and Innovate conference activities. Two states tied for first - Indiana and Alaska.

Out of 90 players, nearly 20 completed the MVP Challenge - scoring 300 points! Six players completed all the activities in the game.

Amanda Nguyen from Maine DOE won a free trial of Alludo for her organization or district/school of choice. Candice Dodson from Indiana was the first player to complete the game, so she'll get a free pilot program, too! Congratulations to all that earned their digital badges and engaged in SETDA.

In addition to the game, SETDA hosted a number of informative, innovative, technology-focused sessions. From policy and collaboration to partner lightning rounds, it was 2 days of activities for all.

Badge Summit 2018

We presented at two workshops at Badge Summit. Sticker Shock, co-hosted by Alludo's Damon Torgerson, OnEducation's Glenn Irvin, and Michael Matera (author of Explore Like a Pirate) covered gamification and badging for professional learning and classroom situations, and tips on how to build a program. Damon and OUHSD's Jay Sorensen presented I Have a Badge, Now What?, which covered branding and promotions around professional learning, and ways in which to engage and retain learners.

ISTE 2018

Mike Morrison from Laguna Beach and Mike Lawrence from PowerSchool kicked off our ISTE 2018 with their session "Changing the World Through Professional Learning" using the program developed at Laguna: Rocket Ready.

The Mikes shared real-world stories and videos from teachers that are working with students to make an impact all over the world with project based learning, badging, and more. Within their game, teachers learn the basics of PBL, technology and collaboration that they then put into action with activities along the way. The outcomes are impressive and are being recognized across their community - including a SchoolPower endowment!

Monday evening, Alludo hosted a full house at the Weather Mark Tavern with some of the best districts and educators in town: PSUSD, San Jacinto, SAVA, Moriarty-Edgewood, Alisal, Las Virgenes, Victor Valley, Union Elementary, and more. We enjoyed a sunny afternoon downtown to meet and greet.

We also participated in a few local gatherings with CUE. Over 100+ representatives from all over the world connected with CUE leaders including Jon Corripo, Cate Tolnai, and Jason Seliskar. Big thank you CUE for supporting our community!

Until ISTE 2019 in Philly -- that's a wrap!

As always, be sure to check our events page for more great professional development opportunities.
