Can schools embrace AI's potential while protecting students? Check out this visionary take from the frontlines. β
As a retired long time California public school administrator, with over thirty years in one district, I'm frequently asked by people in education.
What can leaders do to prepare for the coming AI revolution in schools?
And I have to just be honest. There are three or four things I think you can do, but to me, the number one most important one is to encourage exploration.
Let people try out new technologies. Let them make some mistakes. Always doing and protecting student information at school district data and security, but teachers need to try new things with their students So I want to encourage all school leaders to encourage that exploration in AI and its impact on education.
The second thing is to provide training.
That's one of our biggest obligations as school administrators, is to ensure that all of our staff are appropriately trained. There's some really good training out there around artificial intelligence, and I encourage you to take a look at some of it.
The third thing is to celebrate the successes. So when we do have teachers and educators using AI, and they're doing it in ways that help enhance the creativity and the efficiency and student learning and engagement, we wanna celebrate those successes.
And then finally, we want to keep the dialogue open. We always want to be open to new technologies, and we want to encourage our staff parents and students to talk to us about how those technologies might be impacting them. Those are just a few of the things that I would do. As a school leader with the coming AI revolution.
