Gemini: Revolutionizing AI in Education

Gemini: Revolutionizing AI in Education

In a world rapidly transformed by technology, Google's latest marvel, the Gemini project, emerges as a beacon of groundbreaking innovation. Imagine an artificial intelligence so advanced, it seamlessly integrates audio, images, video, code, and text, performing on par with experts across fifty diverse fields. This isn't just an advancement; it's a revolution. Dr. Mike Swize, a visionary from the halls of Palm Springs Unified with 33 years of devotion to public education, casts a spotlight on this transformative moment. With a blend of awe and urgency, he reveals a stark truth: our schools, brilliant with creative minds shaping future generations, stand at the precipice of a digital epoch yet uncharted in the realm of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Swize's call to arms is not just a reflection but a rallying cry. The Gemini project, by bridging gaps between humans and machines, presents an unprecedented opportunity for education. Yet, it also serves as a wake-up call. As we marvel at the possibilities, we must also mobilize, preparing educators and students alike for a future where AI is not just an asset but a necessity. The journey into AI literacy starts now, with Gemini lighting the path. Dr. Swize invites us to not only witness but actively participate in this new era, ensuring our education system not only catches up but leads the charge into the future.

This narrative isn't just about embracing technology; it's about igniting a transformation in how we teach, learn, and prepare for a world where artificial intelligence will shape our destiny. The question isn't if our schools are ready for the future—it's how we prepare them for a future that is already here.

Recently Google announced the Gemini project.
This is Google's entry into AI in a way that's similar to Chat GPT, but honestly we'll take it to the very, very highest levels.

Chat GPT works generally off of text and Google's Gemini project.
It's a multimodal artificial intelligence. And so it combines audio and images and video and code and text and in early performance performed at the same level as experts in fifty different fields. Across a broad range of areas of expertise.

It's really a game changer.

I was listening to Google CEO from Deep Mind, and here's a brilliant computer engineer who said I've been working on AI my entire life.

And when he said that, I was shocked.

I've spent thirty three years in the public education arena. I'm very, very proud of all of the super hardworking teach and classified staff in Palm Springs Unified, where where I spent my entire thirty three year career.

I know we have some of the most creative and brilliant and kindest educators working with children.

But they're not experts in artificial intelligence.

So to see an adult, talk about spending their entire life working in AI. And to realize that as a school district, we barely scratched the surface of computer science, not to mention artificial intelligence.

There's a lot of work for us to continue to do in public education.

And the place to start is to train our staff, to train our administrators in just what is artificial intelligence School districts need to develop policies, and we need to be in front of this wave, not behind it. Because again, as the CEO of Deep Mind said, this could be the most consequential in human history can have the greatest positive impact on humanity.

We need to be prepared, and we need to prepare our students.

I'm sure you've seen the news about Gemini. But I encourage you to take a look. And as I've been doing these last few videos, encourage you to play around with chat GPT.

Get to know it and think about how you can bring that technology to your school district.

And have your school district prepared for students to bring that technology to you. So exciting so much is happening.

I love coming and giving you these quick AI updates, and I know there will be many, many more to come.
